Three ways to search by cover

  1. Search the image. In Chrome on a computer, right-click the picture and choose Search with Google Lens. The results open in a side panel.
  2. Search the words on the cover. Type any title or author words you can read into OpenLibrary or your library's catalogue.
  3. Let Buki read it where you found it. One click on a post on X, or a right-click on any picture. Buki names the book, checks it against OpenLibrary, and keeps the ones you choose on your shelf.

When the cover will not give up its title

  • Crop or zoom to the cover alone.
  • Try the spine: it carries the title even when the front is all artwork.
  • Read the post: a caption often names the book outright.
  • Ask people: r/whatsthatbook is good at rare editions.

Questions people ask

Is there a search engine for book covers?

Image search works for covers: in Chrome, right-click the picture and choose Search with Google Lens. Buki does the same job inside the page you are reading, and keeps the books you choose on your shelf.

Can I search a book by its cover image for free?

Yes. Google Lens is free, and so are book communities like r/whatsthatbook. Buki is free for ten catches, then $29 a year, or $4 a month, or free with your own Google AI Studio key.

What if the cover is blurry?

Zoom in on the cover, try the spine, and read the caption around the picture: it often names the book a blurry cover hides. On X, Buki reads the post's words together with the cover for that reason.

Can I search a photo of many books at once?

With Buki, yes: one picture can hold up to 20 books, and it lists each one so you choose which to keep. A catch counts the picture, not the books.

What happens to the book after I find it?

In Buki it goes on your shelf, under Now, Next, Someday or Finished, and a book caught on X keeps the post you found it in. You can export the shelf to Goodreads or StoryGraph.

Do I need an account?

No. Buki has no account and no sync. The shelf lives in your browser.
