Buki

A Goodreads alternative for the books you find online

Goodreads is where readers rate, review and follow each other. Buki does one smaller job: it names the books in the pictures you see online and keeps them on a shelf in your browser. No feed, no ratings, no account. When you want them on Goodreads, export them.

Use both

  1. Catch the book where you find it. On X, one click under the post; anywhere else, right-click the picture. For a book from X, Buki keeps a link to the post you found it in.
  2. Keep it on your shelf. Reading now, Next, Someday or Finished, on shelves you name.
  3. Export to Goodreads. Buki's settings write a CSV in Goodreads' format, which StoryGraph reads too. Import it there, and rate and review it with everyone else.

Questions people ask

Is Buki a Goodreads alternative?

For one job, yes: keeping the books you find online. Buki has no feed, no ratings and no reviews, so if you came for the community, Goodreads is still the place for it.

Can I move my Buki books to Goodreads?

Yes. Export from Buki's settings: it writes a CSV in Goodreads' format, which StoryGraph reads too, and both can import it. Every book keeps a note of the page you caught it from.

Does Buki need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for. Your shelf lives in your browser, on your computer.

Is Buki free?

Ten catches are free, and a catch is one picture, however many books it holds. Then $29 a year, or $4 a month, or free with your own Google AI Studio key.

Does Buki work on my phone?

No. Buki is a Chrome extension for computers. Goodreads has apps for phones.

Will Buki post anything for me?

No. Buki never posts, follows or shares anything for you. Share makes a picture or a list of a shelf, and you decide where it goes.
